The Default in One Image

A corridor. Many doors, all open. But only one has light behind it—and only one has the worn floor that shows where people actually go.

A corridor with many open doors on either side, but only the door at the end has warm light, and the floor is worn only along the path leading there

The other doors are available. No one is stopping you. But nothing draws you toward them—no light, no trace, no indication that anyone has gone that way before.

That is a default. Not the only option. Just the one that requires nothing to choose.
